Bio
Bill Haines enters his fourth season as the leader of the Penn State Brandywine baseball program in 2016.
Haines has comprised a 58-52 overall record along with a 43-14 PSUAC mark during his first three seasons. He has also produced five USCAA All-Americans, six USCAA Academic All-Americans, nine First Team All-PSUAC performers, three second team all-conference standouts, and one honorable mention all-conference player. Haines was also named 2013 PSUAC Coach of the Year.
Brandywine finished the 2015 season with a 20-15 record and placed third at the PSUAC Tournament. A league-high four players were selected first team all-conference, while three student-athletes earned USCAA All-Academic Team recognition.
During the 2014 season, Haines guided the Lions to a 22-15 overall and 15-3 PSUAC record and junior first baseman Gabe Encarnacion was selected as the PSUAC Player of the Year. The Lions placed second in the PSUAC and finished as the runner-up during the league’s postseason tournament.
In 2013, Brandywine won 15 games, finishing the regular season in third place in the conference. The Lions went on to the conference tournament and finished third.
Haines is a graduate of Penn State Brandywine and was a member of the Lions’ baseball team during his time on campus. Haines then served as an assistant coach with Brandywine from 2004-2007, helping guide the Lions to three division championships. Haines then made a move to the high school ranks from 2008-2012 with Glen Mills and Interboro High Schools, before returning to Brandywine in 2013 to become head coach of his alma mater.
Haines graduated from Penn State Brandywine with a bachelor’s degree in human development and family studies. Haines also received his master’s degree from Wilmington University in school counseling.
He currently resides in Newtown Square with his wife, Shannon, and his son, Liam.
