Lions Best GA In First-Place Showdown

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine jumped on Penn State Greater Allegheny with four goals during the first 27 minutes and never looked back en route to a 7-0 romp on Saturday afternoon as the Lions' dealt GA its first conference loss.

Brandywine remained unbeaten in PSUAC play, moving to 6-0 (10-3 overall), while Greater Allegheny dropped to 5-1 against conference competition.

GA entered the match having conceeded just four goals in its first five conference matches, but Brandywine tested GA netminder Colin Bucsok with 19 shots on goal and found the back of the net seven times. The Lions also limited Greater Allegheny to just one shot on target during the match.

"From start to finish, this was the most complete game we have played all year. We continue to get stronger and stronger in all areas of our game," said Head Coach Jesse Zafiratos.

Chris Reibman (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) led the Lions' offensive assault by scoring four goals, upping his conference-leading total to 17, while Ronaldo Calle (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville), Mohamed Camara (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) and Brandon Crochunis (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) also found the back of the net.

Riebman connected on a pair of penalty kicks, including one during the eighth minute following a GA hand ball in the box that put Brandywine ahead 1-0. Calle followed with a score seven minutes later, while Riebman added his second goal at the 17:47 mark and Camara made the score 4-0 at halftime with his eighth goal of the season.

Brandywine continued to pour it on during the second half, scoring three goals in a span of 2:29. Riebman sandwiched a pair of scores around Crochunis' eighth tally of the year.

Will Scott-Norris (Wilmington, Del./Mt. Pleasant) manned the net during the first half for Brandywine and did not need to make a save, earning his sixth win, while Brandon Welden (Essington, Pa./Interboro) stopped one shot during the final 45 minutes.

Brandywine is back in action on Tuesday at Penn State Wilkes Barre. Game time is slated for 4:00 PM.
