Golf Highlights Five Brandywine Squads Named United East Academic Teams
MEDIA, Pa. -- Five Penn State Brandywine teams received United East Conference Team Academic Awards, highlighted by the men's golf squad that posted a league-leading grade-point average, on Tuesday.
Brandywine golf, which earned the award for the second-straight year, topped the conference's eight schools that compete in the sport with a 3.55 GPA. Each member of the golf squad earned recognition as a United East Scholar Athlete on Monday and was named to Penn State's Dean's List following the spring semester.
Also claiming a Team Academic Award for the second consecutive year were Brandywine's women's cross country and softball teams. Women's tennis and volleyball both earned the honor for the first time.
Each United East-sponsored program that achieved a team grade-point average of 3.25 or higher during the academic year in named as an Academic Team. A total of 102 squads from the United East's 14 member institutions received this year's awards.
Women's cross country was Brandywine's top academic team after recording a department-high cumulative GPA of 3.66 during the 2025-26 academic year.
Women's tennis, which recorded its first United East postseason victory with a first-round tournament win at Penn State Berks on Apr. 22, posted a team GPA of 3.56. Volleyball also competed in the United East Tournament for the first time in 2025 and amassed a 3.53 team GPA.
Brandywine softball finished the year with a 3.53 GPA after capturing its second-straight United East championship. The Lions won 27-straight games to end the season with a 34-7 record.
