Brandywine Closes Out Regular Season At Abington Invitational

HUNTINGDON VALLEY, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine golf team wrapped up its regular season with a sixth-place finish at the eight-team Penn State Abington Invitational on Tuesday.
 
The Lions were paced by Matt Cavanaugh (Drexel Hill, Pa./Bonner-Prendie), who carded a round of 80 on the Philmont Country Club course to finish in a tie for seventh place.
 
Eric Angle's (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) round of 82 was good enough to tie for 14th in the 44-man field, while Steven Kimmel (Avondale, Pa.) tied for 22nd in 87 strokes. 
 
Charlie Hughes (West Chester, Pa.) posted 105 shots and Carl Galantino (Media, Pa./Penncrest) rounded out the Lions by totaling 119 strokes.
 
Elizabethtown College won the team title in 309 strokes and the Blue Jays' Chris Kilduff claimed individual medalist honors with a three-over-par round of 73.
 
Brandywine begins the 36-hole United East Conference Championship Friday at Chambersburg Country Club.
