Brandywine Closes Season At United East Championship
HARRISBURG, Pa. – Penn State Brandywine concluded its season Saturday afternoon following an eighth-place finish at the United East Conference Golf Championship at Dauphin Highlands Golf Club.
Seniors Matt Cavanaugh (Upper Darby, Pa./Bonner-Prendie) and Eric Angle (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) finished in a tie for 11th place to pace the Lions. Cavanaugh carded a second-round 79, the sixth-lowest round of the day in tough weather conditions, for a two-day total of 155. Angle matched Cavanaugh's 155 strokes by pairing a second-round 80 with an opening round 75.
One day after shooting 93, Nicholas Grantland (Media, Pa./Penncrest) totaled 98 strokes, while Carl Galantino (Media, Pa./Penncrest) finished the two-day championship in 197 shots (96-101).
Penn College captured its fifth-straight United East Conference team championship, while Penn State Berks' Peyton Moyer was the individual medalist with a 36-hold total of 147, two strokes clear of runner-up Gunner Redmond from Penn College.
