Walleekendeh And Cellucci Named Honorable Mention All-Americans
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Penn State Brandywine junior forward Bill Walleekendeh (Chester, Pa./Chester) and freshman defender James Cellucci (Rosemont, Pa./Radnor) both received men's soccer all-American honorable mention accolades from the United States Collegiate Athletic Association recently.
Walleekendeh, who was named all-American honorable mention for the second consecutive year, tied for ninth nationally with 18 goals, while producing 43 total points, the eighth-highest mark in the USCAA.
Brandywine's first-ever, two-time men's soccer all-American, Walleekendeh registered at least one point in 10 of the team's 17 matches, including an 11-point (4G, 3A) performance against Penn State Schuylkill on Oct. 7. All 18 of Walleekendeh's goals came in during conference matches. Since his freshman year, Walleekendeh has scored at least once in 19-of-20 matches against PSUAC teams.
In three years at Brandywine, Walleekendeh has averaged nearly three points per game, totaling 149 points on 64 goals and 21 assists in 53 matches. He earned First Team All-PSUAC recognition for the second time this fall.
Cellucci started all 18 matches during his rookie season, earning all-PSUAC second team laurels.
As the team's top defender, Cellucci anchored a Brandywine back line that allowed a PSUAC-low six goals in nine conference games, while posting five shutouts. The Lions also finished second in the league in shots allowed, surrendering just 51 attempts.
Cellucci also collected 19 shots, 11 of which were on goal.
Brandywine finished the year with a 9-8-1 record, including an 8-1 mark in conference play.
