Brandywine Opens Cross Country Season At Abington

ABINGTON, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's and women's cross country teams began their respective seasons at the Penn State Abington Invitational on Saturday morning.

Brandywine's women finished 10th in the 12-team field, while the men placed 15th. Stockton University claimed both team crowns.

Pacing the Brandywine women was Tinyia Terrell (Milford, Va./Caroline), who clocked a time of 31:40 on the 6K course to place 33rd in the field of 90 runners.

Adelaide Etshman (Landenberg, Pa./Avon Grove) was next to hit the finish line, recording a mark of 35:55, while Liala Kanan (Schenectady, N.Y./Schenectady) turned in a mark of 38:28. Sierra Diawara (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) completed the race 25 seconds after Kanan and Anaiyah Allen (Lutz, Fla./Steinbrenner) rounded out the Lions with a time of 44:49.

The Lion men were highlighted by Jayden Diawara (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro), who was the 66th runner to cross the line, finishing the 8K run in 37:00. Jake Whalen (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) turned in a time of 43:46, while Joshua Mitre (New York, N.Y./School of the Future) posted a 44:23 mark.

Gage McKenna (Avondale, Pa./Kennett) crossed the line in 45:40 and Gui Henn (Exton, Pa./Downingtown STEM Academy) finished nine seconds later.

Brandywine continues its season next Saturday at the Bryn Athyn Invitational beginning at 9:00 AM.
