Ice Hockey Faces Rutgers In DVCHC Championship Series This Weekend

MEDIA, Pennsylvania -- Top-seeded Penn State Brandywine will host Rutgers-Camden in a three-game championship series for the Delaware Valley Collegiate Ice Hockey Conference title beginning Friday at Ice Works in Aston.

Game 1 of the best-of-three series begins at 7:30 pm on Rink 3. Game 2 is set for Saturday at 7:30 pm, while Game 3, if necessary, is Sunday at 2:45 pm.

After claiming the DVCHC regular-season title, Brandywine advanced to the championship series with a 2-0 victory over Widener last Sunday. Jonathan Thompson and Ryan Graf netted goals for the Lions, while goalie Andrew Hieber recorded his sixth shutout of the season.

Making its 12-straight playoff appearance under Head Coach Paul Gilligan, Brandywine is looking for its third DVCHC championship and first since 2011-12. The Lions are making their seventh appearance in the championship series.
