PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. – Valley Forge scored during the 83rd minute as the Patriots edged the Penn State Brandywine women's soccer team 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Danielle Horne broke the scoreless deadlock at the 82:59 mark with her second goal of the season.
Brandywine put four shots on target during the game's first 25 minutes, but Valley Forge keeper Abigail Wood stopped each attempt. The Lions added three more shots on goal during the final 45 minutes, but could not find the back of the net.
Cecilia Ballas (Aston, Pa./Garnet Valley) recorded a team-high three shots on goal, while Quinn Rosario (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) tallied two shots.
Taylor Mims (Yeadon, Pa./Penn Wood) and Emily Orr (Eddystone, Pa./Ridley) split time in net with each goalkeeper playing one half. Mims and Orr both registered a pair of saves.
Brandywine (0-2-1) plays its second home match of the fall on Tuesday when the Lions face Penn State Hazleton at 4:00 PM.
