Brandywine Edged By Regionally-Ranked Harrisburg

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Brandywine was topped 3-0 by Penn State Harrisburg, the No. 4 ranked team in NCAA Division III Region IV, in United East Conference men's soccer action on Tuesday night.

Harrisburg got on the board just 6:12 into the contest, taking a 1-0 edge on a goal from Alden Reeves.

Brandywine had a flurry of shots late in the opening half, but Francis Sarpong's (Germantown, Md./Northwest) attempt was saved and Christian Zavala (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) had a shot that was blocked and another that went just wide.

The hosts added an insurance goal eight minutes into the second half and tacked on another marker with less than five minutes to play in the match.

Sarpong recorded both of Brandywine's shots on goal and combined with Zavala to tally all four of the Lions' shot attempts overall. Elijah DeBooth (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) played all 90 minutes in goal, making seven saves.

Brandywine (2-6-3, 0-3 United East) will play its final non-conference match of the fall on Thursday when the Lions face Penn State Schuylkill at 4:00 PM.
