Ray Kelly Awarded United East Defensive Player Of The Week

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine senior Ray Kelly (Middletown, Del./Middletown) was named Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week by the United East Conference on Monday.

Kelly helped Brandywine to a 2-0 week as the Lions clinched the No. 8 seed in the United East Tournament and a home match in the first round. Kelly played all 90 minutes and scored a goal in both matches, the 23rd and 24th goals of his 88-match career.

At Penn State Berks on Tuesday, Kelly headed in Kyle Reuter's (York, Pa./Dallastown Area) corner kick for his first goal of the season in a 2-0 Brandywine victory. He also anchored the Brandywine back line that did not allow a shot on goal from Berks.

Three days later, Reuter and Kelly linked up again for a goal off a corner kick to begin the scoring in a 2-1 triumph over Lancaster Bible.

Brandywine (7-7-3) will host No. 9 Notre Dame of Maryland on Wednesday in the United East Tournament first round beginning at 3:30 PM at the WSPS Bank Sportsplex in Chester.
