Brandywine Runs At Abington Invitational
ABINGTON, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Penn State Abington Invitational on Saturday. The Brandywine women placed ninth, while the men's squad was 11th.
Anna Caporale (Westampton, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional) was the top finisher for the Brandywine women, clocking a personal-best time of 34:33 to place 33rd in the 76-runner field.
Adelaide Etshman (Landenberg, Pa./Avon Grove) finished just behind Caporale in 35:50, while Naya Rivera (Mays Landing, N.J./Oakcrest) posted a time of 39:19. Charlotte Aldridge (Landenberg, Pa./St. Mark's) ran to a time of 41:33 and Vienna Fulginiti (Telford, Pa./Souderton) posted a mark of 45:56. Lanna Chhim (Philadelphia, Pa./Concord) rounded out the Lions in 50:24.
Jayden Diawara (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) set the pace for the Brandywine men as he completed the 8K race in 35:53. Diawara was the 45th runner to cross the finish line in the 90-runner field.
Patrick McGuire (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) hit the line in 40:50, while Matt Briddes (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) crossed the finish line exactly one minute later. Kaiere Cornitcher (Philadelphia, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) ran to a time of 43:01 and Noah Iyoun (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) posted a mark of 44:52 during his first collegiate race.
Brandywine will have a two-week break before returning on Oct. 11 at West Chester's Golden Ram Invitational.
