Serenelli Earns United East Pitcher Of The Week Selection

MEDIA, Pa. -- The United East Conference selected Penn State Brandywine freshman right-hander Gianni Serenelli (Fairless Hills, Pa./Conwell-Egan Catholic) as its Baseball Pitcher of the Week on Monday.

Sernelli went the distance against Penn State Abington on Tuesday, firing a complete-game shutout to earn his first victory. He recorded five strikeouts and threw 73 of his 109 pitches for strikes, while limiting Abington to just six hits, five of which were singles. Only four Abington baserunners reached scoring position against Serenelli on the day.

The complete-game shutout was Brandywine's first nine-inning shutout thrown since Tyler Michaels blanked Penn State Schuylkill for nine innings on March 22, 2019.

Serenelli has made four starts and seven total appearances on the mound for the Lions this spring. He ranks sixth in the United East with a 3.63 earned run average. Serenelli tops the team with 22 strikeouts in 34.2 innings.

Brandywine hosts Valley Forge for Senior Night on Wednesday beginning at 6:00 PM.
