ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's and women's tennis squads both suffered losses at Elizabethtown on Saturday afternoon as the Lion women were defeated 6-1 and the Brandywine men dropped a 7-0 decision.
Samma Zahran (Brookhaven, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) provided the point for the Brandywine women's team, earning a striaght-set victory at No. 1 singles by identical 6-1 scores. Zahran also teamed with Isabella Dolce (Media, Pa./Penncrest) to win their first-flight doubles match, 7-6 (7-3).
Dolce won two games before falling at No. 2 singles, while Sydney Mabry (Washington, D.C./Jackson-Reed) won three games during her No. 3 singles bout.
Highlighting the Brandywine men were Mateo Torres (Upper Chichester, Pa./Chichester) and Aaron Wilson (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett). Both won four games during their respective singles matches. Torres fell 3-6, 1-6 at No. 1, while Wilson was topped 2-6, 2-6 at No. 3.
Both teams will play at home for the first time this fall next Saturday when the Lions host Penn State Berks at 1:00 PM.
