Brandywine Introduces Ray Strunk As Head Tennis Coach

MEDIA, Pa. -- Director of Athletics Bobbi Caprice announced that Ray Strunk has been named head coach of the Penn State Brandywine men's and women's tennis teams on Thursday.

Strunk comes to Brandywine after serving as the head tennis coach at Dr. Abe Chames High School in North Miami Beach, Fla. Strunk started the school's tennis program in 2020 and spent one full season as head coach.

A 2020 graduate of Wichita State University, Strunk received his bachelor's degree in political science and communications. While at Wichita State, Strunk was a practice player and match-play partner for the Shockers' NCAA Division I women's tennis team.

While at Wichita State, Strunk also spent the 2019-20 season as head coach of the Towanda-Circle High School tennis teams. He was named 4A Regional Coach of the Year after leading the team to its highest win total in program history. In addition, Strunk was a tennis coach at Riverside Tennis Center from 2018-20.

Prior to enrolling at Wichita State, Strunk attended Barton Community College, earning his associate's degree in 2017. While attending Barton, Strunk was a two-year member of the men's tennis team and served as student body president and tennis team captain during the 2016-17 academic year. He was a NJCAA Division I National Tournament qualifier in 2017.

Strunk currently resides in Philadelphia where he works as a special education and English teacher.
