Brandywine Drops Home United East Matches

MEDIA, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Notre Dame of Maryland, while the Brandywine men were knocked off 7-0 by Penn State Berks on Saturday.
 
Samma Zahran (Brookhaven, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) won both of her matches for the Lions' women. First, she teamed with Aerynne Mays (Easton, Pa./Wilson) to win 6-4 at No. 1 singles. Zahran eased to a straight-set singles victory by identical set scores of 6-0, 6-0.
 
Hope Priemon (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) picked up Brandywine's second point of the day. She claimed her No. 6 singles bout by scores of 7-6, 6-4.
 
Emma Kaplan (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) extended her match to a third set by winning the second frame 6-4, but dropped the tiebreak by a 12-10 count at No. 4 singles.
 
On the men's side, Jonathan Parsons (Wallingford, Pa.) and Mateo Cousineau (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) both won three games during their respective singles bouts. Cousineau and Elias Danesh (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) also claimed two games at No. 2 doubles before falling 2-6.
 
Brandywine is back at home Wednesday to host Cairn beginning at 4:00 PM.
