Brandywine Drops United East Opener To Berks
READING, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine women's tennis team dropped its first United East Conference match of the season in a 6-1 decision at Penn State Berks on Saturday afternoon.
For the second time in three days, Samma Zahran (Brookhaven, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) earned a pair of wins. She coupled with Anna Ramirez (Caguas, Puerto Rico/Downingtown East) to roll to a 6-1 triumph at No. 1 doubles. At top flight singles, Zahran eased past Mia Aharonoff by a 6-1, 6-0 count.
At No. 2 singles, Aerynne Mays (Easton, Pa./Wilson) extended her match to a third set by winning the second frame 7-6, but was outlasted by Eliana Koehler by a score of 14-10 in dropping the match, 2-1.
Brandywine will play at home for the first time this spring on Tuesday against Immaculata.
