BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The teams were tied at halftime, but Bryn Athyn outscored Penn State Brandywine 47-32 during the final 20 minutes to claim a 78-63 United East Conference men's basketball victory on Saturday.
Brandywine trailed 11-6 early in the game, but five-straight points from Amari Little (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) followed by a bucket by Jaden Fogg (Morrisville, Pa./Morrisville) put Brandywine on top.
The Lions led by as many as five points when Little canned a triple at the 10:27 mark, but the hosts chipped away and tied the count at 31-all when Jakir Hampton buried a three-pointer with 52 seconds to play in the half.
Bryn Athyn outscored Brandywine 10-2 during the first 3:15 of the second period. The Lions closed the gap to eight three times during the next four minutes; however, Bryn Athyn pulled away from Brandywine, using a 15-2 surge to push the margin to 21 points with under eight minutes to play.
Little led the Lions in scoring with 19 points. Fogg notched 10 points and 10 boards, while Malachi Claude (Callaway, Md./Great Mills) chipped in 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting. Ben Bass (Arlington, Va./Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School) handed out a team-best five assists.
