MEDIA, Pa. -- Lancaster Bible scored 25 points off 25 Penn State Brandywine turnovers and defeated the Lions' men's basketball team 80-53 on Tuesday night.
Lancaster Bible scored eight of the first 10 points of the night and extended its lead to 15 by the halfway point of the opening period. Amari Little (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) sank two free throws to trim the margin to 12 at the 4:37 mark, but LBC outscored the Lions 9-4 during the final four minutes to build a 39-22 halftime edge.
Malachi Claude (Callaway, Md./Great Mills) netted the first four points of the second half to make the score 39-26; however, the Lions would not get closer as the Chargers steadily pulled away.
Little topped the Lions in scoring with nine points, while Alexander Derkits (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) notched eight and Claude and Elijah Bryant (Philadelphia, Pa./Paul Robeson) both tallied seven. Little also topped the team with seven rebounds and three assists.
Brandywine shot 39 percent from the field, but allowed the Chargers to knock down eight triples and shoot 43 percent overall.
Brandywine (4-16, 1-10 UEC) will be on the road in Maryland Saturday to take on Notre Dame of Maryland at 3:30 PM.
