ABINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine women's basketball team dropped a 96-45 decision at Penn State Abington in the United East Conference opener for both teams on Tuesday night.
Sierra Diawara (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) knocked down a trio of three-pointers and all six of her free throw attempts, providing a team-high 17 points. Trinell Watson (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) added 11 points and grabbed four rebounds, while Jazmyn Kemp (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) pulled in a team-best 15 boards and notched nine points.
Brandywine scored five of the night's first eight points, but Abington answered with six-straight points and outscored the Lions 20-4 during the remainder of the period to lead 23-9 after one quarter.
The hosts increased their lead to 19 points at halftime and never let Brandywine back in the game during the second half after beginning the third quarter with an 18-2 surge.
Brandywine (1-4) will be back at home Monday to face Alvernia at 7:00 PM.
