Allen Scores 1,000th Point On Senior Day

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine senior Anaiyah Allen (Lutz, Fla./Steinbrenner) scored the 1,000th point of her career to highlight the Lions' Women's Basketball Senior Day on Saturday, but Brandywine was defeated 86-66 by Penn College. 
 
Allen canned her second three-pointer of the day at the 2:44 mark of the second quarter to net her 1,000th point. She is the 12th player in program history to reach four digits in scoring, doing so in the 98th game of her four-year career. 
 
Allen finished the afternoon with a team-high 18 points on 6-of-13 shooting. Fellow seniors Sierra Diawara (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) and Kiara Koger (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) also reached double figures in scoring as Koger poured in 15 points and Diawara netted 13 points. Koger also tallied team highs with nine rebounds, three assists and three steals.
 
Trinell Watson (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) was the fourth Lion in double figures as she shot 5-for-9 from the field and notched 12 points. 
 
Brandywine rallied from seven points down after the first quarter, trimming the deficit to three points when Koger knocked down a jumper at the 4:56 mark. After Penn College netted the next six points, Allen's milestone triple brought the count to 31-25, but the visitors outscored the Lions 10-2 during the remainder of the half to lead by 14 at the break.
 
Penn College pulled away during the third quarter behind Gigi Parlante. Parlante recorded 13 points and 10 rebounds during the period as the Wildcats pushed their lead to 26 points through 30 minutes and the visitors' lead was never threatened in the fourth.
 
Both teams shot 43 percent from the field, but Penn College held a commanding 53-27 edge on the boards. The Wildcats pulled in 24 offensive rebounds, scoring 27 second-chance points.
 
Brandywine (2-20, 1-13 UEC) will play on its home court for the final time this season on Tuesday when the Lions host Wilson at 5:30 PM.
