Stanton Scores Three In 4-0 Brandywine Victory

PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. -- Addy Stanton (Henderson, Nev./Coronado) recorded a hat trick as the Penn State Brandywine women's soccer team claimed its first victory of the season, a 4-0 triumph at the University of Valley Forge on Tuesday afternoon.

Stanton, who netted the first three goals of her career after missing her freshman season due to injury, collected the final three markers of the afternoon for Brandywine.

Emma Kearns (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) got the scoring started with a long strike over Patriots' goalkeeper Abigail Wood during the 16th minute. Sixty-one seconds later, Stanton was on the door step to collect a rebound following Lexi Schlater's (Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown) shot and doubled the Lions' margin to 2-0.

Stanton made the count 3-0 entering halftime with a goal nearly identical to Kearns' at the 22:35 mark. She finished off the scoring and completed her hat trick late in the second half.

Jasmin Alvarez (Tracy, Calif./Tracy) worked all 90 minutes in net for Brandywine. She needed to stop just one shot to record the first shutout of her career. Kearns notched seven of Brandywine's 17 shots on goal, while Stanton produced four and Hope Priemon (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) tallied three.

Brandywine (1-1) is at home Saturday to face Medgar Evers beginning at 3:00 PM.
