Berks Edges Brandywine 1-0

MEDIA, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine women's soccer team dropped a hard-fought, 1-0 decision to Penn State Berks on Saturday afternoon.

The difference in the game came during the 10th minute as Amber Scritchfield scored off a crossing pass from Paige Thomas to provide Berks with the lone tally of the day.

Brandywine nearly equaled the count just over six minutes later. Larkin Henderson (Philadelphia, Pa./Bodine) had the Lions' top offensive opportunity of the afternoon as she found herself alone on goal, but her shot trickled wide to the right.

Jasmin Alvarez (Tracy, Calif./Tracy) kept the Lions within striking distance by making 14 saves, one shy of her season-high. Alvarez made numerous stops to keep the score preserved at 1-0, including a pair of point-blank blocks in the second half following Berks' corner kicks.

Alvarez stopped eight shots during the opening half and all six attempts she faced in the second period.

Brandywine recorded a pair of shots on goal, one each from Emma Kearns (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) and Hope Priemon (Springfield, Pa./Springfield).

Brandywine (5-3-1, 1-2 UEC) is on the road at Keystone Tuesday beginning at 7:00 PM.
