Samma Zahran Named United East Women’s Tennis Player Of The Week

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine junior Samma Zahran (Brookhaven, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) was tabbed as the United East Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Tuesday. The weekly honor from the United East is the second this academic year for Zahran and fourth of her career.

Zahran won all six of her matches last week, three singles and three doubles, helping Brandywine to a 3-0 week against conference competition.

During her No. 1 singles matches, Zahran won a pair of bouts by 6-0, 6-0 scores and dropped just one game overall as she swept a trio of matches. She twice teamed with Sydney Mabry (Washington, D.C./Jackson-Reed) to win at No. 1 doubles and combined with Mari Gvelesiani (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fort Hamilton) to win 7-6 against Penn College on Wednesday.

Zahran owns a 10-2 singles record this season, including a 6-1 conference record. She is 28-8 overall in singles action during her three-year career.

Brandywine visits Cairn today at 3:00 PM.
