St. Mary’s Downs Brandywine 5-1

ST. MARY'S, Md. -- Penn State Brandywine team fell by a score of 5-1 at St. Mary's College of Maryland in United East Conference men's soccer action on Wednesday night.

St. Mary's took the lead just over four minutes into the match and extended the margin to four goals by the 40th minute.

The Lions got on the board just before the half with Derek Lopez's (Avondale, Pa./Avon Grove) second goal in as many games. A Brandywine corner kick found the chest of Dakari Burton (Frederick, Md./Governor Thomas Johnson), who dished the ball to Lopez for the score with under four minutes remaining before intermission.

Brandywine was unable to get any closer as the Seahawks held the Lions without a shot on target during the final 45 minutes. St. Mary's added a goal at the 83:29 mark to provide the final margin.

Braden Warwick (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) played all 90 minutes in net for the Lions and made 10 stops. Burton collected two of Brandywine's three shots on goal.

Brandywine is idle until Tuesday when the Lions travel to Keystone for a 5:00 PM match.
