Harrisburg Rallies To Top Brandywine  8-6

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine held a three-run lead, but Penn State Harrisburg rallied to top the Lions and remain undefeated in United East Conference baseball play with an 8-6 victory on Tuesday afternoon.

Ryan Snyder (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) and Ryan Brown (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) led off the game with back-to-back singles and both came around to score on Will Collison's (Chestertown, Md./Queen Anne's County) double to give Brandywine an early 2-0 edge.

The hosts scored twice in the second to tie the score, but Brandywine answered with three runs off the bat of David Kursman (Pennsauken, N.J./Pennsauken) in the third. Kursman's two-out triple unloaded the bases to make the count 5-2 in Brandywine's favor.

Harrisburg again battled back to knot the count at 5-all with a three-run bottom of the third. The Lions took their final lead of the day in the fifth inning as Collison delivered a solo home run over the left-center field fence.

A leadoff home run in the sixth inning pulled Harrisburg even. One frame later, Harrisburg took its first lead of the day thanks to a sacrifice fly and a two-out, run-scoring single.

Brandywine brought the tying run to the plate with no outs in the ninth, but Bradyn Eckert retired three-straight Lions to close out the game.

Collison was 2-for-4 with three RBI, while Daniel Rohlsen (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) recorded three hits in four at-bats. Gianni Serenelli (Levittown, Pa./Conwell-Egan Catholic) pitched the final 5.2 frames in relief and struck out four batters, while allowing three runs on eight hits.

Brandywine (14-16, 5-7 UEC) plays its final non-conference game of the season Wednesday at Ursinus (3:30 PM).
