Brandywine Plays To 20-20 Tie At Ursinus

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – After playing for more than four hours, nine innings could not decide a winner as Penn State Brandywine and Ursinus ran out of daylight during a 20-20 tie on Wednesday afternoon.

Brandywine racked up 16 hits, stole 11 bases and scored during every inning except the fifth and eighth. The Bears collected 23 hits and plated runs in each inning except for the first and fifth.

Ryan Brown (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) led the offense with a 4-for-5 day at the plate. He scored four runs, stole two bases and drove in five runs, including a three-run home run that gave the Lions a 5-0 lead in the second inning.

Ryan Snyder (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley), Ivano Romaniello (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley), Miguel Rodriguez (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) and Daniel Rohlsen (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) all produced two hits. Snyder and Rohlsen both scored three runs, while Rohlsen added three RBI.

Run-scoring singles from Brown, Rohlsen and Noah Currier (New Castle, Del./William Penn) expanded Brandywine's lead to 11-1 in the third inning. After Ursinus plated a pair of markers in its half of the third, Rohlsen drove in two runs with a base hit to make the count 13-3 in the fourth.

Brody Oyloe (Redmond, Ore./Redmond) gave Brandywine its biggest lead of the day at 15-4 with a two-run single in the sixth.

The Bears narrowed the margin to 17-14 through seven innings and tied the count with a three-run eighth inning. Brandywine went back in front with a three-run ninth as Brown scored via error, Romaniello crossed home thanks to a wild pitch and Rodriguez lifted a sacrifice fly to center field; however, Ursinus scored three times during the bottom of the frame to tie the score.

Brandywine put two runs on the board in the 10th inning, but the teams ran out of daylight, reverting the final score to 20-20 after nine innings of play.

Brandywine (14-16-1, 5-7 UEC) closes out the regular season Friday at St. Mary's of Maryland at 12:00 PM.
