Brandywine Holds On To Beat York 13-11

YORK, Pa. – Penn State Brandywine built an eight-run lead and held on to defeat Penn State York 13-11 in non-conference baseball action on Monday night.

Brandywine pounded York pitching for 19 hits, including three-hit efforts from Ivano Romaniello (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley), Daniel Rohlsen (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) and Brody Oyloe (Redmond, Ore./Redmond). Rohlsen matched Ryan Snyder (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) with a team-high three runs batted in, while Oyloe knocked in a pair and scored twice and Ryan Brown (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) contributed two hits and two RBI.

Brandywine scored seven times in the second inning to build a 7-1 edge. Romaniello doubled and scored on Jason Hankins' (Chichester, Pa./Chichester) single to tie the score at 1-1. Rohlsen delivered a bases-loaded single to plate a run, while Snyder knocked in two with a double. Brown added a run-scoring single and later scored on Miguel Rodriguez's (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) groundout.

York was within 7-5 entering the fifth inning, but the Lions struck for four more runs. Will Collison (Chestertown, Md./Queen Anne's County) recorded a RBI single, while Oyloe singled in a pair of runs and scored on Rohlsen's triple.

Snyder tacked on a run-scoring single in the eighth to make the score 13-5, but York got a run back during the bottom of the frame and scored five times in the ninth to climb within two. After entering the game with the bases loaded and two outs, JP Tinneny (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) ended the threat with a groundout back to the mound.

Tinneny earned the first save of his career, while Will Gallagher (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Harriton) claimed his first win. Gallagher worked 4.0 innings and struck out one, while allowing one earned run. Ashvin Premkumar (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) pitched a scoreless inning in his season debut, while Ethan Storm (Toronto, Canada/Sir Wilfred Laurier) limited York to one run and struck out two in 3.0 relief frames.

Brandywine (13-13, 4-4 UEC) returns to conference play Wednesday when the Lions host Penn State Harrisburg for their final home game of the season at 3:00 PM.
