Lions Fend Off Wilson For Third-Straight Win

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Penn State Brandywine had to fend off a pair of second-half rallies from Wilson as the Lions claimed an 83-70 victory, their third-straight United East Conference men's basketball triumph, on Wednesday night.

Amari Little (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) led four double-figure scorers with 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting. He knocked down four three-pointers and grabbed four rebounds.

Corwin Holland II (Bowie, Md./Rock Creek Christian) and Jaden Fogg (Morrisville, Pa./Morrisville) both produced double-doubles. Holland paired 18 points with 11 rebounds, while Fogg coupled 14 points with 11 boards and added five assists and three steals.

Isaiah Johnson (Levittown, Pa./Conwell-Egan Catholic) was the fourth Lion to reach double digits as he notched 11 points in 13 minutes of action.

Neither team led by more than four points until late in the first half when Brandywine used a 15-4 run to take a 37-27 edge. Little started the run with a triple and contributed eight points overall, while Holland's three-pointer capped the surge at the 2:19 mark.

Wilson converted a three-point play to end the Lions' run, but Holland buried another triple and Bryan Warren (Sicklerville, N.J./Timbercreek) sank three free throws as Brandywine closed the first half with six-straight points to lead 43-30 at the break.

Brandywine continued its run into the second half, scoring seven of the first nine points to claim a 50-32 edge. Holland's free throw at the 16:45 mark handed Brandywine a 19-point cushion; however, Wilson came charging back as the hosts surged for 14-straight points in the span of just 1:59 to pull within five.

Brandywine answered with back-to-back layups and pushed the margin back to double figures thanks to a Little bucket with 7:40 to play. Following a Phoenix free throw, Holland and Little canned consecutive triples, while Fogg's bucket at the 4:53 mark matched Brandywine's largest lead of the night at 76-57.

The hosts countered with eight consecutive points, climbing within 11 with exactly three minutes remaining, but would get no closer as Brandywine limited Wilson to just three more points and sank five-of-six free throws during the final 64 seconds.

Brandywine shot 44 percent from the field and commanded the boards, holding a 45-31 rebounding advantage. The Lions also connected on 23-of-30 free throw attempts, while Wilson made just 13-of-22 from the charity stripe and 5-of-28 from beyond the arc.

Brandywine (12-9, 7-2 UEC) will play three of its final four regular-season games at home beginning Saturday against Penn College at 1:00 PM.
