Lancaster Bible Sends Brandywine To First Conference Loss

MEDIA, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's basketball team was defeated 96-82 by Lancaster Bible College on Wednesday night as the Lions dropped their first United East Conference contest of the season.
 
The teams were tied at 8-8 early in the first half, but Lancaster Bible errupted for 10-straight points in the span of just three minutes. 
 
The Chargers built a lead as large as 14 points during the opening period before Brandywine battled back to within six following a 10-1 spurt. Bryan Warren (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek) knocked down a triple, while Amari Little (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) scored the next seven points, including a pair of free throws that brought the Lions within 39-33 with three minutes to play in the half. 
 
Lancaster Bible answered with six of the next eight points and led by 10 points at intermission.
 
Warren sank two free throws to begin the second half that brought the score to 48-40, but LBC countered with a 15-3 run to take control of the game. The visitors' lead swelled to 24 points near the midway point of the second period before Brandywine whittled the margin as low as 13 points late, but could not get any closer.
 
Warren paced the Lions with 21 points on 6-of-8 shooting in 20 minutes. He knocked down a trio of triples and 6-of-7 shots from the free throw line.
 
Little and Corwin Holland II (Bowie, Md./Rock Creek Christian) both netted 18 points. Holland made 8-of-17 shots from the field and topped the Lions in rebouding with nine boards, while Little canned four triples. Jaden Fogg (Morrisville, Pa./Morrisville) and Jack Swider (Conshohocken, Pa./Phil-Mont Christian Academy) both chipped in 10 points. 
 
Brandywine shot 47 percent from the field and sank 11 three-pointers, but committed 21 turnovers and allowed the Chargers to shoot nearly 52 percent from the field.
 
Brandywine (7-8, 2-1 UEC) plays five of its next six games away from home beginning Saturday at Cairn (1:00 PM).
